The President’s Award is given at the President’s discretion to a person(s) who is: committed to the organization, currently engaged in its activities, an effective spokesperson, representative at all times, and in touch with both the needs of other AI professionals and the changes that the organization must help its AI professionals to meet.
The Lifetime Achievement Award is presented to an AI professional who best demonstrates high ethical standards; contributed to the Appraisal Institute at the chapter, regional, national and/or international level(s); provided service to his or her community; and contributed to the appraisal profession. A minimum of 20 years of service is recommended to be eligible for this award.
The Outstanding Service Award is presented to an AI professional who has contributed ideas, service hours and dedication to ensure a specific program or effort is implemented at either the chapter, region, national and/or international level(s). This AI professional must be instrumental to the success of the program or effort, which also must be far enough along to measure and provide proof of success. Additionally, the program or effort must be beneficial to chapters, regions, national, international, designated members, candidates, affiliates, practicing affiliates and/or the profession.

2018 President’s Award Winners
Mark Ratterman, MAI, SRA
Ratterman has served on the Hoosier State Chapter’s Education Committee since 2017, also serving from 2012-14. He previously served on the chapter’s Government Relations Committee in 2016 and as chair in 2015, as regional representative from 2009-10, 1998 and 1995-96, Education Committee chair from 2007-11 and as a committee member from 2012-14. He served on the national University Relations Panel in 2014, as a member of the Business Model Committee from 2003-04, a member of The Appraisal Journal Editorial Board from 2001-03, as chair of the Education Committee, Seminars Division, from 1997-98 and vice chair in 1996, chair of the General Appraiser Board Education Committee, General Appraiser Council Seminars Division, in 1995 and as a committee member from 1993-94. He authored the book, “Valuation by Comparison,” second edition, published by the Appraisal Institute in 2018. He also has served as an instructor for numerous Appraisal Institute education offerings.
Scott Robinson, MAI, SRA, AI-GRS, AI-RRS
Robinson is chair of the CEO Search Project Team, has served as chair of the National Nominating Committee since 2017, as chair of the Strategic Planning Committee in 2018 and 2008, a member of the committee in 2017 and from 2007-11 and member, at large in 2005. He also served as immediate past president in 2017, president, chair of the Executive Committee and chair of the Board of Directors in 2016, president-elect in 2015, vice president in 2014, a director of the Appraisal Institute Relief Foundation in 2014, chair of the Finance Committee in 2014, a member of the International Relations Committee in 2013, chair of the Admissions and Designation Qualifications Committee from 2007-08 and a member in 2006, member of the Audit Committee from 2006-07, member of the AI Holdings Board from 2005-06, member of the Amicus Brief Work Group in 2004, member of the Board of Directors from 2003-06 and numerous other national roles. He served as regional representative for the North Carolina Chapter from 2010-11 and 2001-03, alternate regional representative in 2009 and 2007, president in 2005, vice president from 2003-04, chair of the Education Committee in 2003, treasurer and chair of the Finance Committee in 2002, secretary in 2001, chair of the Admissions Committee-Residential from 1999-2000 and chair of the Candidate Guidance Committee-General from 1998-99. He also has served on other national project teams and as an instructor.

Craig Harrington, SRA, AI-RRS
Harrington has served on the Appraisal Institute’s national Comprehensive Examination Panel, as well as the International Relations Committee, since 2017. He previously served as chair of the Education Committee from 2013-16 and as a member from 2011-12, and on the Strategic Planning Committee from 2013-16. He also has been a national and international instructor, developer and reviewer for numerous Appraisal Institute education offerings.
Leslie Sellers, MAI, SRA, AI-GRS
Sellers has served as chair of the Appraisal Institute’s national Body of Knowledge Committee since 2017, as well as on the Strategic Planning Committee since 2015. He previously served as chair of the Professional Standards and Guidance Committee and chair of the Professional Practice Compliance and Enforcement Committee in 2016, chair of the International Relations Committee from 2014-15, a member, at large, of the Professional Standards and Guidance Committee from 2013-14, a trustee of the Appraisal Institute Education Trust from 2012-14, immediate past president and chair of the National Nominating Committee in 2011, president in 2010, president-elect in 2009, vice president and chair of the Finance Committee in 2008, Region IX chair in 2007, Region IX vice chair and member of the Education Committee in 2006, chair of the Audit Committee from 2004-05 and numerous other national roles, along with leadership positions for the Appraisal Institute’s former Volunteer State Chapter.

Timothy "Tim" Runde, MAI
Runde has been regional representative for the Appraisal Institute’s Northern California Chapter since 2017. He co-authored the book, “The Valuation of Green Commercial Real Estate,” published by the Appraisal Institute in 2017, and co-developed the course, “Practical Applications in Appraising Green Properties.” He has served as an instructor and reviewer for courses in the Appraisal Institute’s Valuation of Sustainable Buildings Professional Development program.
